Is Water Under a Refrigerator Normal?
A small amount of water in the drain pan underneath the refrigerator can be normal.
During an automatic defrost cycle, frost melts from the evaporator coils. This water flows through a drain tube into a pan near the compressor, where it normally evaporates.
Water on the floor is not normal when:
- A puddle continues to grow.
- Water returns after being cleaned.
- The leak occurs when the ice maker fills.
- Water appears after using the dispenser.
- The refrigerator is not cooling correctly.
